Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council to ensure preservation of historical heritage

KUALA KANGSAR: The Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council (MPKK) will ensure that efforts to preserve the historical heritage of the royal town are carried out continuously.

MPKK president Zulqarnain Mohamad said his team would make sure intensive preservation work was carried out for artifacts and monuments, including historical buildings.

"Kuala Kangsar is rich in historical architecture, traditional customs, trade, biodiversity and culture.

"Like Laman Pahlawan in Jalan Bukit Kerajaan Bukit Chandan, which has its historical value, we placed the keris monument and armoured car as well as fighter plane in Dataran Putra," he said after placing a notice board at Laman Sejarah with the help of Malayan Historical Group (MHG) chairman Shaharom Ahmad and Perak Heritage Association secretary Nor Hisham Zulkiflee.

Zulqarnain said many old buildings were tourist attractions.

"If they (buildings) are owned by the government, we will be able to help restore them. If they are privately owned, we will make sure that repair work is done."

Meanwhile, Shaharom said his team would cooperate with local authorities in efforts to channel information of these places.

"MHG lauds MPKK's efforts in preserving the historical heritage in Kuala Kangsar.

"We hope that this collaboration with MHG will continue." --Bernama
