Korean tourist found dead in KK hotel room

KOTA KINABALU: A Korean tourist was found dead in a hotel room in Jalan Coastal here today.

The body of the 45-year-old man was found lying on the floor of his room at 8.25am.

According to a source, a hotel guest went to his room and saw the victim lying unconscious on the floor.

"The door was ajar. The guest then informed the hotel staff about the incident."

The victim is believed to have checked into the hotel alone on Feb 28.

"Based on closed circuit television footage at 10.15pm, the victim was seen opening the door to his room and was looking outside.

"He went back into the room without closing the door. No other individual was seen going out and entering the victim's room," the source said.

District police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah who confirmed the incident said investigations by the forensics team found no foul play.

"The results of the inspection at the scene also showed no signs of struggle. There were no injuries on the body or belongings lost.

"The victim's body was taken to the Queen Elizabeth I Hospital Forensic Unit for an autopsy. The case has been classified as sudden death," he said.
