Stranded Cebu Pacific Air passengers to depart for S'pore on another plane tonight

KOTA KINABALU: Passengers of the Cebu Pacific Air A320 Airbus stranded at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) last night will depart for Singapore on another plane.

The Airbus, carrying 92 passengers and crew, took off from Cebu in the Philippines at 7.55pm yesterday and was believed to have experienced a problem with its left engine.

The pilot made an emergency landing at KKIA at 10.22pm.

A source said the aircraft had not been approved for takeoff as it still required repairs.

"Another aircraft will be flown in to transport the stranded passengers to their destination tonight.

"They are now staying at a hotel."
