LABUAN: A young psychiatrist attached with the Labuan Hospital tragically lost his life in a fatal accident along Jalan Kampung Bukit Kalam here early this morning.
The deceased, identified as Dr Harivin Loganathan, was in his 20s and had been serving at the Specialist Clinic 1 of Psychiatry and Mental Health Unit for about six months.
He was riding his motorcycle and believed to be on his way to work when the mishap occurred at about 8am.
Details surrounding the accident are still emerging, but preliminary reports suggest that Dr Harivin's motorcycle was involved in a collision with a Perodua Axia car, where it is believed he died on the spot.
The accident is being investigated, as authorities work to find out what happened.
Colleagues and friends described Dr Harivin as a compassionate and dedicated healthcare professional who was deeply committed to his patients' well-being, and actively involved in public mental health events.
