'I will address Zahid's DNAA in parliament, God willing': Anwar

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has not rejected the possibility of answering questions with regards to Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's discharge in parliament.

Speaking to reporters, the prime minister briefly said: "Maybe, InsyaAllah (If God wills it)."

Anwar was addressing the media at Kompleks Nasyrul Quran, here, after sending over three shipping containers containing 30,000 Al-Quran copies which have been translated to English and Chinese to be delivered to Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.

This is part of the effort for Malaysia to deliver one million Al-Quran copies translated to various languages all over the world, especially in the West to counter Islamophobia and misunderstanding of the Al-Quran and Islam following recent incidents of Al-Quran burning.

Meanwhile, a government backbencher wants Anwar to answer queries over the discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) granted to Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in the Dewan Rakyat.

Hassan Abdul Karim (PH-Pasir Gudang) said this was because members of both sides of the Dewan Rakyat have continuously asked questions about the issue, whether inside or outside the August House.

He said members of parliament should be allowed to ask questions about the DNAA during the Prime Minister's Question Time (PMQT).
