KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has announced a series of resolutions to benefit its citizens.

Included in "Tawaran Kita Selangor: 5 Tekad untuk 5 Tahun" are exemptions for low-cost rental house property tax, agricultural incentives, special mosque officer incentives, and emergency preparedness measures.

In a statement today, he said the state government would be granting an exemption on assessment tax for a total of 426,656 low-cost homes and village houses in Selangor.

"This tax relief will be effective for the second term, running from July 1 to Dec 31, with a significant financial implication of RM29,415,672.50 for all local authorities," he said.

Amirudin also highlighted plans for stimulating the agricultural sector through incentive programmes and initiatives aimed at bolstering the farming and agriculture communities.

"The state government will be providing RM1,000 each to 500 entrepreneurs engaged in crop cultivation, livestock farming, aquaculture, basic agricultural industries, and fishing.

"This grant will be disbursed as RM500 in cash, with the remaining RM500 provided in the form of crop inputs, equipment, and raw materials," he said.

He added that the initiative would be launched on Oct 31 in partnership with AgroBank Selangor and Koperasi Kohijrah Wargah Hijrah Selangor Berhad.

Amirudin said that the monthly salaries of 760 imams would increase from RM1,300 to RM1,500, coordinated by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) in order to improve the welfare of mosque officials.

He stated the allowances for 1,900 nazirs, muezzins, and caretakers would also see an increment, with RM50 added to their monthly compensation, bringing allowances to RM300 for nazirs, RM340 for muezzins, and RM290 for caretakers.

This initiative represents a total increase of RM2,964,000 and will be allocated annually to further promote the Islamic mission in Selangor.

Meanwhile, to prepare for the northeast monsoon season, Amirudin said the state government had directed various departments to clean the drainage system.

"Temporary relief centers will also be established, and elected officials will play active roles in disaster management committees to protect residents from potential flooding," he added.

In addition to these initiatives, members of parliament and state assembly members will play active roles in the district disaster management committee: Ng Sze Han (industrial area recovery), Izham Hashim (infrastructure recovery), Borhan Aman Shah (PPS management), Ng Suee Lim (cleanup/local councils), Datuk Rizam Ismail (rural disaster coordination), Mohd Najwan Halimi (volunteer coordination), Jamaliah Jamaluddin (health), Papparaidu Veraman (special tasks), Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah (telecommunications, mosques, and surau management), Anfaal Saari (welfare coordination).
