Media Prima top management pays visit to IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Berhad leadership today paid an official visit to the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain at his office in Bukit Aman.

The over two-hour meeting, led by Media Prima Group chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussain Syed Aljunid, aimed to strengthen ties between both agencies and discussed a multitude of topics.

Also present were Media Prima Omnia chief operating officer (Sales) Mohd Efendi Omar, the New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd group managing editor Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman and Media Prima Television Networks deputy group editor (news and current affairs) Azhari Muhidin.

Razarudin emphasised that the media served a crucial function, particularly in delivering precise information that can indirectly enhance the image of the police.

"The media is an intermediary in conveying a message from the police to the community, accurate and true information.

"We don't want the public to have assumptions and misinterpretation due to information received from incorrect sources causing the public to look askance at the police force," he said.

Razarudin wasted no time in granting his deputy and directors the green light to share information with the media as soon as he assumed leadership.

He even held a meeting with editors from all media as soon as he was appointed as the police chief.
