Muslims must stand in solidarity with Palestinians, says Kelantan Pas man

KOTA BARU: Muslims must stand in solidarity with Palestinians for the freedom of Palestine and Al-Aqsa mosque.

Therefore, Kelantan Pas commissioner Datuk Ahmad Yakob said, special solidarity shown by performing prayers at mosques or designated places and recitation of the 'qunut nazilah' (prayer for times of calamity) prayer must be carried out every day at the appropriate time.

"This is for the safety and well-being of the Palestinian people and their liberation as a sovereign state," said Ahmad in a statement today.

He said Palestine has always been in turmoil and has been occupied for centuries.

"It includes the continued invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the (Israeli) Zionist regime in various ways, following the counter attacks against the Palestinian freedom fighter groups, namely Hamas and Islamic Jihad two days ago.

"For that, l would like to call on all Muslims to unite and stand in solidarity for Palestinian freedom and the safeguarding of the Al-Aqsa Mosque," said Ahmad who was a former menteri besar.

Meanwhile, Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang in his facebook post yesterday said the party is closely monitoring the escalating conflict between Palestine and Israel.

"I would like to urge all Muslims to engage in special prayers, recite the 'qunut nazilah' prayer and pray for our Muslim brothers and sisters in Gaza.

"Let us convene a solidarity gathering for Al-Quds ( Muslim quarter of Jerusalem) as a strong protest against Israel's oppressive actions which continue to infringe upon Palestinian territory," said the Marang MP.

Following several weeks of heightened tension along the Gaza-Israel border, Hamas and Islamic Jihad launched a large-scale offensive named 'Operation Al-Aqsa Flood' against Israel.
