Pos Malaysia releases special World Post Day stamp

KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd launched a special World Post Day stamp commemorating the timeless legacy of postal services in conjunction with World Post Day today.

The theme for this year emphasised unity and collaboration for a secure and interconnected future.

Communication and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the theme encompasses the spirit of unity, sharing and collective responsibility that defines the role of the postal industry in an interconnected world.

"This celebration reminds us that trust, global connectivity, security, and sustainability are not just aspirations but achievable goals when we work together.

"This theme reflects Pos Malaysia's goal, which is to build trust in order to connect lives and businesses for a brighter future," he said during the officiating speech at the World Post Day 2023 event at Pos Malaysia headquarters.

Also presented were Communication and Digital Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching and Pos Malaysia Berhad Group chief executive officer Charles Brewer.

The event concluded with Fahmi flagging off Pos Malaysia's first fleet of electric vans, showcasing the group's commitment to a sustainable future.

"I am happy that Pos Malaysia is taking proactive steps to meet its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint and aim for net zero carbon emissions (NetZero) by 2050," he said.

He hoped to see more organisations make similar positive changes for a greener and more environmentally friendly future.

Meanwhile, Brewer said Pos Malaysia is passionate about building trust to connect lives and businesses for a better tomorrow.

"Our unrivalled network, providing the greatest reach and delivering to more than 11 million addresses across the nation, stands testament to our commitment to serve all Malaysians no matter where they are.

"We stand as a 'lighthouse', championing sustainability for both Malaysia and the logistics sector," Brewer added.

Pos Malaysia also collaborated with the Postal Forum to organise the "Apa Khabar?" letter writing competition with over 470 primary and secondary schools via their KESEF Club (Kelab Setem dan Filateli).

Selected schools will also be receiving 'Hope Boxes' that contain postcards and hope wishes for the students.

This initiative aims to promote the wonderful art of letter writing, connecting Malaysians and encouraging creative writing among the younger generation, with cash prizes to be won by schools with the highest number of entries.

From Oct 9 to 13, Pos Malaysia will be rolling out a number of engaging activities at all post offices across the country in conjunction with 'Minggu Bersama Pelanggan' (a week with customers) to honour and appreciate its key stakeholders – the amazing Pos Malaysia Wira and the Rakyat.

Among some of the exciting activities for Pos Malaysia customers are meet-and-greet with Malaysian actor, Shaheizy Sam at GPO Shah Alam (Oct 9, 12pm to 2pm), and Malaysian Football League (MFL) players at state GPOs and a chance to win a 5g gold wafer from the World Post Day period.
