Heavy rain uprooted trees, damaged parked vehicles

JOHOR BARU: A brief but heavy downpour in the state capital today uprooted trees and damaged parked vehicles.

Internet users took to social media platforms and posted pictures of several uprooted trees.

Checks with the Fire and Rescue Department revealed that a 2.1m- tall tree was uprooted along Jalan Jerau 5 in Taman Pelangi, near here.

There were no causalities reported in the 5.12pm incident, though several parked vehicles had minor damages.

Larkin fire station operations commander Abd Wahab Nasir said a six-man team was deployed to Taman Pelangi, to clear the fallen tree.

The firemen utilised a chainsaw to cut the tree into manageable sizes, and removed the remaining debris that was obstructing traffic along Jalan Jerau 5.

Currently, the department has yet to receive reports of other cases, despite pictures of uprooted trees in other areas being posted online.
