Do not travel to conflict areas in Gaza, IGP tells Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians are advised against travelling to conflict areas in Gaza, Palestine, for safety reasons.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the police was also closely monitoring for possible movements of Malaysians to the conflict zones.

"The police have mobilised relevant elements, especially the Special Branch, to ensure the non-involvement of Malaysian citizens and to prevent security risks to any individual.

"The best forms of solidarity with the people of Palestine is for us to send our prayers and give our moral support," he said in a statement today.

Razarudin had also advised individuals who wish to contribute donations to the Palestinian cause to verify the legitimacy of the platform which is collecting donations.

He said the public should be cautious to avoid being duped by the irresponsible people who seek fake donations.

"The police through the Commercial Crime Investigation Department will increase monitoring and take firm action if any party is found attempting to take advantage on such matters."

He said the police will take steps to ensure that no one takes advantage of any Malaysian's kindness.
