2024 Budget: Health allocations can contribute to improved productivity

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2024 Budget allocation for the Health Ministry is testament to the unity government's commitment to improve the quality of health of Malaysians.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the government's allocation for the ministry saw the highest jump compared to the other ministries.

This was from RM36.33 billion last year to RM41.22 billion for 2024, which is an increase of 13.45 per cent.

"The allocations exemplifies the government's commitment to improve the quality of life through a sustainable, responsive, and better healthcare system.

"The large sum is an investment by the unity government which is aware and concerned about the needs of the people, which can contribute to improved workers productivity for the empowerment of the national economy," she said in a press conference at the parliament lobby today.

Out of the total allocation, RM35.15 billion is for operating expenses and the remaining RM6.07 billion is for development expenses, she said.
