2024 Budget: EPF's i-Sayang extended to house husbands next year

KUALA LUMPUR: Starting next year, the Employees Provident Fund's (EPF) i-Sayang financial facility will be expanded to include house husbands.

The expansion of the facility will provide working wives the option to transfer and remit two per cent of their monthly EPF contributions (employee's portion) to their husbands.

EPF chief executive officer Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the expansion of the i-Sayang facility is among the key highlights of the 2024 Budget tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the Dewan Rakyat last Friday.

The i-Sayang programme, said Amir Hamzah, which was launched in March this year allows husbands to voluntarily transfer two per cent of their monthly EPF contributions to their wives' accounts with the retirement body.

"Since its launch, about 34,000 husbands have registered and participated in i-Sayang which is equivalent to a cumulative savings of RM14.7 million," Amir Hamzah said in a statement today.
