GERIK: Orang Asli Pos Kemar Health Clinic here caught fire today.
Gerik Fire and Rescue Station operation chief Kamarulariffin Abdul Ghani said that they received a distress call at 1.33pm and reached the scene about two hours later using water transport.
"The fire involved electrical equipment including compressors, air conditioners, and other equipment," he said adding that the fire destroyed five per cent of the clinic structure.
However, he said, when a team of firemen arrived at the scene, the fire had been successfully extinguished by the clinic's staff.
"It took about two hours to reach there using a Fire and Rescue Department boat involving five firemen.
"We inspected the clinic to ensure that the fire was completely extinguished and that there were no other causes that could cause the fire to reoccur before we returned to the station," he said, adding that the operation ended at 7.37pm.
