Fadhlina: Imam Al-Nawawi's 40 Hadith module to be expanded to all public schools

KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry plans to expand the Imam Al-Nawawi's 40 Hadith appreciation module to all Muslim students at all public schools.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the module is currently being implemented at National Religious Secondary Schools (SMKA) and Government-funded Religious Schools (SABK).

"The move is aimed at forming good character and values among students, in addition to fostering a love and understanding of the religion among Muslim students, while subsequently producing a generation of children who are good and intelligent.

"It is also to support the pillars of Malaysia Madani, in terms of cultivating a sense of respect and courtesy," she said when replying to a question from Roslan Hashim (PN-Kulim Bandar Baharu) at the Dewan Rakyat today.

Fadhlina said the ministry has issued a circular on the implementation of the Imam Al-Nawawi's 40 Hadith appreciation activities at SMKA and SABK on Oct 4.

"All principals at SMKA and SABK need to carry out activities related to Imam Al-Nawawi's 40 Hadith so it can be adapted to all students' level of understanding and the Malaysian context.

"The module is developed by the ministry and coordinated by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and it is important that we ensure it is understood by students."
