Penang CM: For those thinking about creating an issue, I say better don't [NSTTV]

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has told those out to create any issue about his position to "forget about it".

"Before the state elections, there was an attempt to replace the chief minister. Although I was not replaced, there are still challenges.

"And for those thinking about creating an issue (plot to oust me), I say better don't. My position has been decided by the party," he said.

Earlier today, DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng had called on Chow to furnish proof of any plot to topple him.

The Bagan member of parliament said party secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook had yesterday publicly dismissed allegations by Chow of a plot, both internally and externally, to topple him.

Under this context, Chow urged everyone to come together to work with him, whether from within or outside.

He said he had drawn up the Penang 2030 vision, and hoped that under his term, he could achieve as much as possible.

"I have a good term, which can be improved further," he added.

Asked on possible threats from external forces, Chow said "whoever they may be, we have an agenda and we need to stay focused".

Pressed who they are, he said: "I said, if any. If there is none, then there is none.

"Even if there is, I heard nothing about it. If there is none, then it is even better."

During an event here over the weekend, Chow told the audience that there were people within and outside the party who were planning to remove him.

As such, he had called on his detractors to respect DAP's decision.
