Klang still recording unhealthy API reading

KUALA LUMPUR: One area in Selangor is still registering unhealthy air pollution index (API) readings as of 9am today.

An update on the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) website revealed that Klang recorded an API reading of 156, while 48 other areas recorded moderate API readings.

Among the areas that registered moderate API readings were Jerantut in Pahang with a reading of 70; Kemaman, Terengganu (59); Kota Bharu, Kelantan (55); Kluang, Johor (58); Minden, Pulau Pinang (60); Bintulu, Sarawak (58) and Tawau di Sabah (57).

APIMS measures the API readings between 0 and 50 as good, 51 and 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and any readings of 300 and above as hazardous.

At the same time, the published data also showed that 19 areas across the country showed API readings that were at a good level.

The areas were among others Kangar in Perlis (44); Alor Setar, Kedah (39); Nilai, Negri Sembilan (41); Sri Aman, Sarawak (17) and Kimanis in Sabah (22).
