Man nabbed to assist probe into fatal crash near Tanjung Malim

TANJUNG MALIM: Police have arrested a 30-year-old man to facilitate investigations into a six-vehicle crash that saw three people killed and three others injured.

The incident happened at KM390 of the North-South Expressway (northbound), here, at 2.30pm today.

Muallim police chief Superintendent Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said the man, from Pantai Remis, was arrested after his statement was recorded at the police station here today.

"We detained the driver of a Toyota Altis car for 24 hours to assist in our investigation.

"Those who witnessed the incident should come forward at any nearby police station to assist in the probe," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Earlier, it was reported that three women who were on their way home to Sungai Petani, Kedah after attending the 69th Pas Muktamar in Shah Alam were killed in a car accident here.

The victims have been identified as Taibah Sulaiman, 61, from Kampung Teluk Wang Besar; Fatihah Nabilah Bukri, 23, from Taman Sri Jenaris, Tikam Batu; and Nurul Najihah Amzi, 27, from Kampung Alor Melung.
