One burnt to death, two seriously injured in fiery Perak highway crash

BAGAN SERAI: One person was burnt to death while two others suffered serious injuries in an accident involving two vehicles at KM198.4 of the North-South Expressway here.

A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said that they received a distress call at 8.24am and a team of firemen from Bagan Serai, assisted by Kamunting, was rushed to the scene.

"The accident involved a lorry and a van. There were three victims in the van, one of them was burnt to death while two others suffered serious injuries.

"They were rushed to the hospital including the burnt victim for post-mortem," he said, adding that the identity of all the victims is yet to be known.

He added that the operation was still ongoing to remove the vehicles involved.

According to PLUS Traffic info X (formerly Twitter) page, as of 10.13am, traffic on the accident stretch was reported to be congested, with traffic crawling for 10km from Taiping (northbound) to Bukit Merah.
