Bank Negara issues cyber threat alert of possible attack from pro-Israel hackers

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has issued a cyber threat alert for financial institutions in the country.

Through the Financial Sector Cyber Threat Intelligence Platform (FinTip), precautionary measures are routinely communicated to financial institutions and their relevant partners.

It is understood that this notice has been issued in response to the potential actions of pro-Israel hacker groups who may target the strategic systems of the country following cyberattacks by a pro-Palestinian hacker group known as 'DragonForce' on the strategic networks of some Israeli groups since the conflict erupted between the two countries.

The FinTip warning alert allows financial institutions to take appropriate preventive measures to protect their systems and avoid any potential disruptions to financial services.

At the same time, BNM and the financial industry continually share information about potential threats in cyberspace.
