Multi-vehicle crash mangles body of motorcyclist

KLUANG: The body of a student from Kluang vocational college was mangled after being hit by several vehicles in an accident at Kilometre (km) 63.8 on the North-South Expressway, last night at 7.45 pm.

Kluang district police deputy chief, Deputy Superintendent Nik Mohd Azmi Husin, said the victim, Muhammad Syafiq Haikal Abdullah, 16, died on the spot.

He said the victim, who was riding a Yamaha LC135 motorcycle, fell off the motorcycle after colliding with an Isuzu MU-X sports utility vehicle (SUV).

"Initial investigations revealed that the victim's motorcycle, along with an SUV and a Toyota Alphard multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) were travelling from Kuala Lumpur towards Johor Baru. At the scene of the accident, the victim's motorcycle collided with the rear of the SUV driven by a 29-year-old man, causing the victim to fall on the road.

"Then, several vehicles, of unknown makes and registration numbers, and the 41-year-old male MPV driver who couldn't avoid it, hit the victim. As a result of the accident, the victim suffered severe injuries and passed away at the scene," he said when contacted today.

He said both drivers of the vehicles involved did not suffer any injuries, and the case is classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.

Meanwhile, pictures and videos of the horrific accident, recorded by highway users passing through the location, went viral on social media, garnering sympathy from netizens.
