PADANG BESAR: A woman was killed after her motorcycle was rammed by a car, throwing her to the opposite side of the road before being run over by a van in Beseri, here, yesterday evening.
The 6pm incident at KM5.6 of the Beseri-Mata Ayer trunk road occurred when the victim, Farhana Kreiya Salleh Rom, 29, from Jalan Guar Jentik, was heading towards Tasik Melati.
Padang Besar deputy police chief Superintendent Sarih Salleh said initial investigation showed that the victim was slowing down to make a right turn to the lake when a Perodua Axia travelling in the same direction knocked her motorcycle from behind.
"The victim was flung from the impact of the crash and landed on the opposite side of the road.
"She was later run over by an oncoming van travelling from Mata Ayer," he said when contacted today.
Sarih said the victim, who worked as a helper at an eatery, died on the spot due to severe injuries and her body was sent to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital for a post-mortem.
He asked those with information on the case to contact Inspector Muzlifah Azmi at 011-2185 8926 to assist the investigation.
