TM6 form required for Malaysians entering Thailand via Kelantan checkpoints

RANTAU PANJANG: Malaysians entering Thailand via the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security (ICQS) complexes in Kelantan still need to submit the TM6 form as required by Thai immigration.

While those entering Thailand from Kedah are not required to fill the form beginning next month, Malaysians who go through Kelantan checkpoints still need to do so, said a Thai immigration spokesman.

He said the ICQS were located in Pengkalan Kubor, Bukit Bunga and here.

The spokesman said the requirement had been imposed to Malaysian travellers years ago.

"The latest directive (on the temporary exemption from submitting the TM6 immigration form) is only imposed to visitors who enter Thailand via Sadao Immigration Checkpoint in Songkhla.

"For those who plan to enter Thailand via Sungai Golok, Takbai and Buketa checkpoints, they must fill the TM6 forms as usual.

"If they do not know how to fill the forms, they can ask for help but they need to pay RM3 for each form filled by the assistance," said the spokesman.

He said the Thai immigration decided to temporarily allow the exemption to ease the congestion at the Sadao checkpoint.

"We did not face the congestion problems at our checkpoints bordering with Kelantan.

"At the moment, we believe (there is) no need for us to temporarily stop issuing the TM6 forms to Malaysians entering our country via the three checkpoints," he added.

On Oct 24, Thailand decided that starting Nov 1 till April 30 next year, visitors entering the country via the Sadao Immigration Checkpoint in Songkhla will be temporarily exempted from submitting the TM6 immigration form.

This was to ease congestion during the tourist peak seasons.
