KUCHING: A 15-year-old boy was snatched by a crocodile while he was fishing with a friend at a river in Samariang today.
State Fire and Rescue Department's operations centre spokesperson said they received information about the incident at 4.27pm.
The spokesperson said a nine-member team from the Petra Jaya fire station rushed to the location near Bandar Baru Samariang.
"Based on the operation commander's report, the victim and his friend were fishing at a river near Samariang Aman before being attacked by a crocodile.
"The victim's friend witnessed the whole thing, saying the crocodile dragged the victim upstream," said the spokesperson in a statement.
The search operation for the victim is currently underway, the spokesperson said, adding that the identity of the victim had yet to be obtained.
