KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 43 Inspitari (a portmanteau of 'Inspirasi' and 'Tarian') dance works has been successfully registered with the Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation (MyIPO), according to the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN).
The presentation of the Karya Inspitari Certificates of Recognition from 2010 to 2018 was held at the 2023 Inspitari ceremony at the Malaysian Tourism Centre (MaTiC) Kuala Lumpur during the weekend (November 4 and 5).
JKKN director, Mohd Amran Mohd Haris, said the Inspitari ceremony organised by JKKN is a biennial programme that gives JKKN choreographers across the country the opportunity to recognise new dance productions.
"It is also an effort towards producing new works and performances in the field of dance that are more dynamic and fresh," he said in a statement here today (November 6).
At the event, JKKN also accorded recognition to participants involved in the programme through two awards, the 2023 Best Work Inspitari Award and the Tik Tok All-Time Best Inspitari Award.
The winner of the Best Tik Tok All-Time Award was JKKN Johor with a performance of 'Ketam Bangkang' while the winner of the 2023 Best Work Inspitari Award was JKKN Johor with a performance of 'Tari Hulu Peta' by creative choreographer Hamly Shah Ramli. – Bernama
