KOTA TINGGI: A woman was killed and nine others were injured in an accident involving a Perodua Alza and a passenger van along Jalan Mawai, near here, today.
The victim was travelling in the Alza with three others – a man who was the driver and two women, believed to be her relatives. The sustained injuries in the crash.
Six men in the Toyata Hiace passenger van were also injured in the 1.16pm incident.
District Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Mohd Rafi Mohd Nor said seven personnel were despatched to the scene and upon arrival, they found two women, pinned in the Alza.
One of the two women was pronounced dead by the accompanying medical officer.
"Three of the four victims in the Alza were trapped in their vehicle including the victim, which was reduced to a wreck due to the crash impact.
"The six men in the van, were also injured but managed to make their way out of the van with the help of passers-by.
"We initiated basic medical treatment before ferrying them to the hospital," he said.
He added that the woman's body was handed over to the police for further investigations.
