Number of Perak flood victims remains at 102

TELUK INTAN: The number of flood victims in Perak this morning remains at 102 people from 29 families placed in four temporary relief centres in three districts, unchanged from 8pm last night.

The Perak Disaster Control Operations Centre reported that as of 8am, Kerian is still the most affected district with 75 victims from 22 families placed in two temporary relief centres, namely 18 people (three families) at SK Changkat Lobak that opened on Oct 24, and 57 people (19 families) at SK Alor Pongsu, opened on Oct 30.

Next is Hilir Perak with 18 victims (five families) placed at the Padang Tembak Multipurpose Hall that opened on Oct 23.

In Kinta, the Ipoh City Council Public Hall in Taman Meru began operations last Monday to accommodate storm victims and is currently occupied by nine victims (two families).

Meanwhile, the Perak Irrigation and Drainage Department reported that the water level of the Bidor River in Changkat Jong here has reached 3.30m, exceeding the warning level of 3.22m.

At the same time, the Perak Public Works Department also reported the closure of federal roads in several districts due to the current flood situation.

In Kerian, FT147 Jalan Selama is closed to all vehicles due to the rise in water levels on the road. Users are advised to use the alternative A111 Alor Pongsu-Bukit Merah shortcut.

In Hilir Perak, A129 Jalan Langkap-Air Hitam has temporary warning signs installed, and users are asked to use the alternative FT058 road.

In Batang Padang, the Perak Public Works Department is expediting repair work on the collapsed shoulder of the FT1152 Felda Trolak Selatan road as it is a main road. One lane is open for light vehicles only.

Also in Batang Padang, the Perak Public Works Department has implemented the Traffic Management Plan (TMP) on FT001 Jalan Ipoh-Tanjung Malim, with one lane open to all types of vehicles.

In Selama, the Perak Public Works Department is conducting cleaning work on A021 Jalan Kubu Gajah Ijok-Sumpitan, and the road is open to all vehicles.

To avoid congestion, users are advised to use the alternative Sumpitan Village-Masjid Village shortcut.
