KOTA BARU: A young woman was found dead, and her male friend unconscious in a car at a petrol station on Jalan Sultan Ibrahim here last night.
District police chief, assistant commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud, said police received a report on the incident at 10:17pm.
Following the report, a police party was dispatched to the scene to investigate the case.
"Upon arrival, police found a man in his 20s lying unconscious inside the Perodua Myvi.
"The woman, also in her 20s, was found next to him and is believed to have died," he said in a statement.
He added that the initial investigation showed no signs of criminal activity in the woman's death.
"The body was sent to Raja Perempuan Zainab II hospital for post-mortem. The result of the post-mortem revealed that she died due to carbon monoxide poisoning," he said.
Rosdi said that police have classified the case as sudden death.
The man is still being treated at the same hospital.
