Golok river in Tumpat breaches its danger level this morning

KOTA BARU: The Golok river in Tumpat has breached its danger level this morning following heavy rain since Sunday.

As at 9.45am, the level at the river was at 3.16m, which is 0.66m above its danger level of 2.5m.

Two more rivers in Kelantan - the Kelantan river in Kuala Krai, Machang and Kota Baru as well as Semerak river in Pasir Puteh measured above their alert levels.

The number of flood victims in Kelantan stood at 463 this morning.

The victims who were from 142 families taking shelter at four flood relief centres.

A total of 246 people were evacuated at SK Tok Deh, SK Jelawat (85), SMK Beris Panchor (67) and SK Kedai Tanjong (65).

Overall the flood situation in the state is slightly improved this morning compared to yesterday.

The flood in Kelantan claimed its first victim on Sunday after a 23-month-old boy drowned at a river in Kampung Kenali near Kubang Kerian.
