Visa exemption to attract more tourists from China and India, says association

KUALA LUMPUR: The recent visa exemption announced by the prime minister will attract more tourists from China and India and boost the country's revenue in the tourism sector.

The Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (Mita) president Mint Leong said it commends the government's announcement of several enhancements in relations with Asian nations.

"We stand firm in supporting the prime minister's implementation of the visa exemption. These efforts will not only stimulate Malaysia's tourism sector, but enhance Malaysia's reputation on the global stage," she said.

It was previously reported that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had declared a 30-day visa exemption for visitors from various countries.

The government is giving a 30-day travel visa-free exemption for travelers from China and India starting Dec 1 as Malaysia celebrates 50 years of diplomatic relations with China.

Leong said Mita encourages its members to actively promote tourism packages in Malaysia, specifically focusing on attracting visitors from the mentioned countries.

"Mita hopes to collaborate with hotels, airlines, and other stakeholders in the tourism industry to contribute to the economic growth of the tourism sector collectively."
