MACHANG: A 21-year-old woman was killed, while her husband and their eight month-old baby boy were injured when a Perodua Kancil crashed into the concrete fence of a house here yesterday.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Adli Mat Daud said the 4.20pm incident at Pangkal Canggong happened when the woman, who was driving the car, allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

The family of three were heading to Machang town from their home in Kampung Mengketil when the crash occurred.

"Police have received a report on the 4.20pm incident and immediately deployed a team to the scene.

"Initial investigation showed that the woman, who was driving the Perodua Kancil with her 20-year-old husband and their baby, lost control of the vehicle causing it to skid to the opposite lane before it rammed into a concrete fence of a house.

"The impact caused the three of them to be pinned under the wreckage," Adli said in a statement.

Fire and Rescue Department personnel extricated the three victims from the car.

"The woman died on the spot while her husband and their baby suffered serious injuries," he said, adding the woman's remains were sent to the Machang Hospital for post-mortem.

The man and the couple's son who were both injured are being warded at the same hospital.
