Johor MB blows a fuse over prolonged blackouts at Sultan Iskandar Building

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi today lambasted Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) following a prolonged power disruption at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) in Johor Baru.

In a Facebook post, Onn Hafiz described the prolonged disruption from an initially scheduled electricity supply cut as an "embarrassment" for Johor.

He also shared a TNB announcement regarding the planned service interruption scheduled to occur from 8pm yesterday until 4am this morning for maintenance purposes.

"What is happening is very inconvenient for users and is an embarrassment for the state.

"TNB, alongside the Public Works Department, has been instructed to resolve the issue as soon as possible," he said.

Earlier, it was reported that maintenance works at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex in BSI had resulted in an eight-hour power outage, impacting travels between Malaysia and Singapore.

The power disruptions have also affected JB Sentral, leading to significant traffic congestion on the roads leading to BSI.

Meanwhile, the New Straits Times at press time is reaching out to TNB on the matter.
