King hopes Transport ministry will identify ways to ease congestion

KUANTAN: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has called upon relevant authorities, especially the Transport Ministry to study new methods to ease traffic congestion at major towns across the country.

His Majesty described the road congestion in Kuantan as significant and has become a concern to everyone.

"This has been a worry for everyone.....the traffic congestion in Kuantan has been significant. It is not only in Kuantan but in towns across the country.

"I hope the relevant parties, especially Transport Ministry will study new methods on efforts to reduce traffic (congestion) at major towns or cities especially in Kuantan," he said in his speech when opening the Sultan Ahmad Shah Administration Centre (PPSAS) at KotaSAS here today.

Al-Sultan Abdullah, who graced the opening of PPSAS here today, said the opening of the new administrative complex and KotaSAS as a satellite city will be able to reduce the congestion in downtown Kuantan.

He said the move to build the new administration centre replacing Wisma Sri Pahang in the town centre will solve congestion issues in the state capital.

The RM415.5 million new complex will replace Wisma Sri Pahang which began operating in 1976. PPSAS's design was inspired by the coat of arms of the Pahang state.
