Selangor govt to give moral, psychological support to Zayn Rayyan's family

SHAH ALAM: The state government will provide moral and psychological support to Zayn Rayyan's family, following his tragic death.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government, through the Women's Development & Social Welfare exco, will provide moral and psychological support to the late six-year-old autistic child, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin's family, who went missing before being found dead near his home in Damansara Damai on Wednesday.

He said since police investigations are still ongoing and the case has been reclassified as murder, they would wait for all the processes to be completed before rendering the family the necessary assistance.

"The case has now become more serious and the state government does not want to interfere with police procedures and investigations.

"We are giving the police time to complete the investigation, there is no doubt that the state government will provide all necessary support to the family, especially in terms of moral and psychological support to overcome this difficult situation.

"But no matter what, let the police finish their duty because there was a new development yesterday that Zayn's death was due to murder.

"After that (the investigation of the case is completed), we will look at the situation to help the family, especially the parents of the child," he said, when met after the Selangor Property Group Corporate Identity Launch Ceremony at the Shah Alam Convention Center (SACC), today.

Yesterday the media reported that the police are now investigating Zayn Rayyan's death as a homicide after previously being classified as sudden death.

The child was found in a stream near his residence at 10pm (Wednesday) by a group of residents who were conducting a search operation.

He was found lying in the river located at a distance of about 200m from his residential block in Apartment Idaman, Damansara Damai, here.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan had said the results of the autopsy on the victim's body found elements of crime.

"The autopsy found that there were injuries on the victim's neck and body, believed to be related to criminal acts," he said.
