No-show by ministers irks Senate president, ministries reminded to prepare proper replies

KUALA LUMPUR: Senate president Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar today questioned the attitude of some ministers who were absent from the Dewan Negara proceedings.

"If the prime minister can attend (the meeting), why can't the minister do so?

"Is coming here beneath them? This is the upper house of Parliament," he said during the question-and-answer session today.

He also reminded the ministries to prepare accurate replies in addressing questions by senate members.

Senator Amir Md Ghazali had earlier asked the whereabouts of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

Deputy Minister Khairul Firdaus Akhbar Khan, who was responding to his question on services by industry players, said the minister should be busy promoting the country's tourism products.
