Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah takes the helm, pledging collective effort for Malaysia's revival

KUALA LUMPUR: Newly appointed Finance Minister II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, has set his sights on restoring the country to its former glory.

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chief executive officer expressed his commitment to collaborate with all parties and agencies in the collective effort to rebuild the nation.

"We have to understand the transformation that needs to be done.

"We have to work together to understand the priorities and move forward," he said after the swearing in ceremony today.

He was one of the new faces introduced in the new unity government Cabinet lineup.

Earlier today, Amir Hamzah was sworn in as the Senator before Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

Amir Hamzah joined the EPF in 2021 and is the eldest son of former Petronas chairman and president Tun Azizan Zainul Abidin.

With a corporate experience spanning more than 27 years, Amir Hamzah began his career with the Shell Group of Companies before serving as CEO for MISC Berhad.

He was also part of Petronas Dagangan Bhd, Petronas Lubricants International, Icon Offshore Bhd and Themed Attractions Resorts and Hotels Sdn Bhd.
