Portfolio transition: Dr Zaliha takes on Federal Territories with vision for development

KUALA LUMPUR: Dr Zaliha Mustafa aims to accelerate the progress and prosperity of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan in her newly appointed role as the minister in the Prime Minister's Department overseeing the Federal Territories.

Dr Zaliha, who previously served as the health minister, experienced a portfolio change in an announcement made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier today.

"I will shoulder the trust given to me by the prime minister with full responsibility in line with the aspirations of the unity government and Malaysia Madani.

"(It will be done) through frameworks to further develop and prosper the Federal Territories in the aspects of social and economic developments of the community," she said.

Dr Zaliha also said she welcomed Anwar's decision in making the portfolio switch.

She thanked and expressed her appreciation to the Health Ministry's workforce for their support during her tenure.

In December of last year, the Federal Territories Ministry underwent restructuring and operated as the Federal Territories Department under the Prime Minister's Department.

Since then, Anwar has been overseeing the department's operations.
