MACC officers allegedly involved in gang robbery to be charged tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Three Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers who were allegedly involved in a gang robbery of a businessman will be charged tomorrow.

Checks at the Judicial Department website revealed that the trio will be brought to several Sessions Court here at 9am.

It was reported that Minister in Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the investigation was being carried out under Section 396 of the Penal Code.

She said this in a parliamentary reply to a question posed by Lim Lip Eng (Pakatan Harapan-Kepong) last month.

In 2021, police had detained three suspects believed to be senior MACC officers to facilitate investigations into a gang robbery at a house in Jalan Ampang.

The robbery involved a loss of almost RM1 million.
