GEORGE TOWN: Firefighters from the Paya Terubong fire and rescue station were called to open a locked unit at the Lumba Kuda Flats here this afternoon following complaints of a foul stench.
Operations officer Sha'ari Mansor said when they arrived, they found the unit locked and police had asked for their help to open the lock.
"When we opened the lock, we found a man lying on a pile of items.
"He was confirmed dead by paramedics at the scene," he said today.
The deceased has been identified as Ong Liang Soon, 73.
Sha'ari said the victim was handed over to the police for further action.
The operation completed about 1.52pm.
