Man who escaped court's lock-up re-arrested

PASIR MAS: A 32-year-old man was re-arrested about four hours after he escaped from a lock-up at the Pasir Mas' Court Complex here today.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Kama Azural Mohamed said the man was arrested at his auntie's house in Kampung Kubang Badak, located about five kilometres from the court complex.

The man, who was initially arrested on Jan 25, was produced at the court this morning to face a charge related to drug trafficking.

"He, however, had escaped from the lock-up at 10.35am.

"The police mounted roadblocks at 11 locations under Ops Tutup to track down the man. He was subsequently arrested at his auntie's house at 2.30pm," he said in a statement today.

Preliminary checks, said Kama Azural, showed the man is also on police's wanted list.

"Thank you to the members of the public for their assistance in recapturing the man," he added.
