Student's bully case: Police to record statements from all parties involved

KUALA LUMPUR: The police will record statements from all parties involved in the alleged bullying case of a student at a boarding school in Cheras last month.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid, confirmed that his team had received a report from the victim's family yesterday afternoon, stating that statements would be taken, including from the mother, father, friends, and the school.

He said that the case involving the 14-year-old male student is being investigated under Section 31 of the Child Act 2001.

"The investigation is being conducted by D11 (Sexual, Women and Children Investigation) of the Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) Kuala Lumpur," he said at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) after the monthly assembly today.

Yesterday, the mother of the full boarding school male student made a report at the Hospital Cancelor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) Police Post here at 11:16 am.

"I filed a police report individually because my son is still receiving treatment at HCTM. He is recovering and is ready to provide a statement to the police if needed," she said.

On Dec 7, the eldest teenage boy of three was reported missing from a school in Cheras before being found in a weakened state at a bus waiting shelter in front of the Saidina Othman Mosque in Bandar Tun Razak.

Following that, the Ministry of Education (MoE), in a statement, said that they are investigating allegations of bullying involving the student and will ensure that the matter is resolved promptly.

The family of the student had also previously reported that legal action would be taken to fight for the rights of the victim, who was allegedly severely bullied.
