Business as usual for Ilham Tower tenants

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenants at Ilham Tower are unaffected by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's seizure of the building as they are still allowed to operate as usual.

An employee at Ilham Gallery told the New Straits Times that its daily operations continued unhindered, and that there were no directives to vacate the gallery.

"I am unable to disclose details, but based on the information provided by my manager, it (the seizure) does not impact our operating hours.

"There are no instructions for evacuation."

An employee from Element Hotel, which is in the same building, expressed uncertainty about what could happen next.

However, he said the hotel continued to maintain its operations.

"Our business remains unaffected. We are operating as usual."

A worker manning the MyNews store, meanwhile, said he was unaware of the seizure of the building.any seizure of the building. The shop remained opened.

The NST, which visited Ilham Tower yesterday, saw no seizure notices or tapes set up around the building, which s owned the family of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin.

MACC has seized Ilham Tower through a seizure notice dated Dec 18.

It was published as an advertisement in a local news portal on Thursday and in the NST yesterday.

The notice was signed by MACC deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib and made under Section 38(1) of the MACC Act 2009, addressed to the Property Rights Registrar, Lands and Mines Office of the Federal Territories.
