KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) statement allegedly rewarding RM100,000 to the public for sharing information about Tun Daim Zainuddin's assets is false.
The graft busters, in a statement on Facebook today, shared a screen capture of the statement with the words "PALSU" (false) across it.
A picture of the statement, dated Feb 8, 2024, was shared by X user @BurnAmir several hours ago.
In it, were the photographs of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Daim, who was former finance minister.
The false statement read: "The MACC is urging the public to help with Daim's case of undeclared assets.
"Dr Mahathir and Daim are being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009, and Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act."
It also said those with any information on Dr Mahathir and Daim could contact an "investigating officer", and may be rewarded with a bounty of RM100,000.
