Hajiji: No conflicts on races and religious differences

TUARAN: Sabah does not want conflicts related to races and religious differences, said its Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

"In some countries, conflicts between races, especially concerning religious issues, have led to prolonged wars, thus hindering economic, social, and political development in those countries. Therefore, we do not want this to happen in our country.

"The unity agenda is always emphasised because we can establish a peaceful and wealthy society with a united heart, where its people always prioritise unity, politics is not in disarray and the economy is good enough to attract foreign investors.

"The celebration of Christmas demonstrates how much this country cherishes the roles and contributions offered by each of its people, as evidenced by the strong unity among the diverse communities in the state," he said during the Anglican Christmas Open House at the Anglican House here.

His speech was read by his Assistant Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir.

Meanwhile, he also announced RM56.75 million allocation for the development of non-Islamic religious bodies, missionary schools, national and private schools for the year 2024.

Last year, the allocation was RM54.05 million.

He said the money was expected to meet some of the financial needs to cover daily operational costs, as well as to carry out related programmes and improvements to their respective religious institutions and bodies.

"This allocation is in line with the state government's commitment, which always emphasises the policy of justice and equality in all aspects and assists its people regardless of race and religion."
