Former communist party leader, Abdullah CD, dies

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) chairman Abdullah CD, or Che Dat Anjang Abdullah has died.

Hailing from Lambor Kanan, Parit, Perak, Abdullah passed away at 10.29 am earlier today, at the age of 101.

News of his demise was shared by many on social media, including former freedom fighters of Malaya involved in CPM.

"The former Chairman of CPM and founder of the 10th Regiment of the Malayan People's Army has returned to the mercy of Allah at 9.29 am (10.29 am Malaysia time) this morning in Kampung Perdamaian Sukhirin, Narathiwat Province, at the age of 100 years and 3 months," one of the postings said.

Abdullah joined CPM in 1948 and was involved in the independence movement of Malaya against British colonialism.

In 2013, Abdullah's wife, Suriani Abdullah, passed away at their residence in Narathiwat, Thailand.

It is understood that the late Abdullah has a daughter named Karisma.
