Sabah chief minister's son denies involvement in drug activities

TUARAN: The son of the Sabah Chief Minister, Mohd Reza Hajiji, denies being sought by the police for alleged involvement in the state's largest drug syndicate.

He filed a police report regarding the spread of allegations linking him to drug activities at the Tuaran District Police headquarters this afternoon.

Mohd Reza is the son of Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

In the police report, Mohd Reza denied accusations associating him as one of the individuals sought by the police for involvement in drug activities.

According to him, the accusations and defamation circulating through the WhatsApp application linking him to such activities are entirely false and only tarnish his name.

"All allegations against me related to drug activities are unfounded and affect my reputation and good name as well as that of my family," he said.

In this regard, he requested the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to track down the mastermind spreading these baseless accusations.

Earlier, a chain of messages circulated claiming that the eldest son of the Sabah Chief Minister was also involved in a drug cartel in Sabah, which was recently arrested and investigated by the police.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Ayob Khan said that the police arrested a man suspected of being involved in the state's largest drug distribution syndicate, active in distributing methamphetamine since 2015.
