No 'bombs' will be used to demolish Shah Alam Stadium, says Amirudin

SHAH ALAM: The demolition of Shah Alam Stadium to redevelop the Shah Alam Sports Complex (SASC) will not involve the use of explosives but will instead be done manually.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the demolition process will begin once the Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) sub station in Seksyen 13 is relocated.

"Yes, it (demolition) will happen. I will make sure it is done swiftly though we cannot use explosives or bombs because it will affect the neighbourhood (Seksyen 13)," said Amirudin today.

"We will do it manually using machines, which will take slightly longer.

"Demolition work will start once we have successfully relocate the TNB sub station because it is important for Seksyen 13.

"We are in the process of changing its flow, if not (done), the whole area of Seksyen 13 will go dark. We are dealing with TNB on the matter."

Amirudin was speaking after delivering his new year's mandate at Auditorium Dewan Jubli Perak in Shah Alam today.

Amirudin also confirmed that the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) have already given their approval for the SASC redevelopment project.

The state government had submitted the planning approval plan (KM) for the SASC project, which begins with the demolition of the stadium, on Nov 15.

The project, which involves an area of 76.08 hectares, is expected to be complete by 2026.
