Two-day Cabinet retreat starting tomorrow aims to expedite growth for the country

SERDANG: The federal government will hold a two-day Cabinet retreat beginning tomorrow to identify new ideas to enhance the country's economy.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Finance Minister, said the retreat is also held for the government to look into ways to reinforce existing policies.

"(Through the retreat's covening)... we want to move forward, we want to look into the policies that we can formulate to strengthen the economy of the country.

"We want to strengthen the existing initiatives involving the policies that have been rolled out by the government such as the (National) Energy Transition (programme), on digital transformation and permanent investments.

"... and we are looking for new initiatives that can be implemented to accelerate the economic growth of the country," he told reporters after launching the AI Untuk Rakyat programme here today.

Anwar added that his priority was to transform the country in terms of governance as well as accelerating the adoption of digital transformation.

"We want to transform the country into a great nation… Again, this is my priority.

"People are cynical about the anti-corruption measures (rolled out by his administration thus far). I can understand why so-called elites and prominent figures are worried, nervous about attempts to wipe out corruption.

"I think we need to give a clear enough signal of this nonsense," he said.
