Cabinet members begin two-day retreat for strategic discussions

KUALA LUMPUR: The cabinet's two-day retreat will discuss the unity government's direction and strategies for 2024.

The Prime Minister's Department said the retreat, starting today, was attended by 31 cabinet members and 15 special invitees, and is being held at a resort in Cyberjaya.

"The programme is also to achieve alignment, joint ownership and unity among cabinet members towards the government's integrated and comprehensive action plans based on the whole of government and whole of nation concepts.

"The retreat this time also aims to enhance synergy and collaboration between cabinet ministers and public service leadership with focus execution to realise the aspirations of the Madani Economy framework," it said in a statement today.

The two-day programme would also see several discussions and forums being held, involving experts from the private and public sectors, as well as industries, and international organisations.

The Prime Minister's Department said the retreat would also discuss important aspects including the economic challenges and directions, welfare and social security, infrastructure and sustainability development, administrative management, innovation, and communication towards the nation's prosperity.

This is the government's second retreat since coming into power in November 2022.

The closed-door session was also attended by top government officials including Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, Auditor-General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, among others.
