PM: Govt to decide on new EPF chief executive officer soon

CYBERJAYA: The government will soon decide on the appointment of the new Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chief executive officer to replace Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said they have received the list of candidates and are currently conducting background checks with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Inland Revenue Board and the police.

"We have candidates and we are expediting it but we also must respect the process.

"As usual in all of our appointments, we will have to conduct checks with the MACC, IRB and the police.

"That will take a few weeks," he said to reporters at the Cabinet's two day retreat, here, today.

Amir Hamzah had in Dec last year been appointed as the Finance Minister II during the cabinet reshuffle.
